Is your job going to change over the next five years?

More than one in five jobs is expected to be fundamentally different by 2030.

This finding comes from the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs survey, which highlights that technology, the green transition, geoeconomic fragmentation, economic uncertainty and demographic shifts are likely to alter around 22% of existing jobs over the next five years.

Of the jobs that are going to change, it is not surprising that technology-related jobs are expected to see the most growth over this period. This includes big data specialists, fintech engineers, AI and machine learning workers and software developers.

On the other hand, clerical and secretarial work is expected to see the largest decline in numbers, largely driven by technological advancements. This includes bank and postal workers, cashiers and administrative assistants.

The printing industry is another sector projected to face challenges, with printing and related trades ranking sixth on the list of the fastest-declining jobs, behind clerical and administrative roles.
